About Us

R.J. Becht & Son(Continuing a Proud Family Tradition)
Welcome and let me introduce myself; I am Elise Becht Hauenstein. I am also the fourth
generation to continue in the custom clothing business. The business was begun
by my great-grandfather, Frans M. Becht (1823-1910) and much of the work at that
time was for the mounted army. He then passed the profession onto his son, my
grandfather, Joseph R. Becht (1858-1937) who continued to do work for the army
and started Wyoming Cleaners and Custom Clothes in Wyoming, Ohio. My father,
Raymond J. Becht (1902-1980) entered the business at the age of six and in 1922
the business became R. J. Becht. Eight years later, with the birth of his first
born son, John G. Becht, the name R. J. Becht & Son came to be. John later
left the company to pursue another career.
My other brother, R. J. Becht II and myself were also introduced into the business at a very early age. Later,
R. J. also chose another career.
After many childhood years of working my summers and after school with my parents, my hard work and determination paid off. In January 1980, I became the fourth generation in the custom tailoring business. I now have four children, Patrick, Michelle, Tyler and Ryan, and I hope to one day have the honor of naming a fifth generation of R.J. Becht &
Son.
As always, I strive to maintain quality in my workmanship and materials and to insure customer satisfaction. Unlike other custom tailors who do nothing but take your measurements, I personally will do the measuring, mark your pattern, do the cutting and partial sewing. All work is done under my direct supervision with daily visits and calls to my shops. By staying in direct contact with each piece of clothing being made, I am able to maintain a lower margin of error. Not every suit will fit perfectly, but the margin of error is cut. If indeed you do have a problem, I will be happy to take care of it in the same friendly, courteous manner that has made R.J. Becht & Son a major outfitter of custom riding apparel. If I can answer any questions that you might have, please feel free to contact me and I will be happy to be of service.
"EXCLUSIVE BUT NOT EXPENSIVE"
Sincerely,
Elise Becht Hauenstein
